AI Content Policy

Our approach to AI-assisted content

Rental Property Lab may use AI-assisted tools to support the drafting, organization, and research behind some content. We believe in being transparent about that use. This policy explains when and how AI assistance is involved, and the human accountability that always stands behind the published work.

What AI tools may be used for

AI assistance, when used, is limited to supporting tasks:

• Drafting and outlining: helping structure an article or rephrase for clarity.
• Research support: gathering and organizing publicly available reference material for a human author to verify.
• Editorial assistance: checking grammar, consistency, and readability.

What AI tools are not used for

AI tools do not make final editorial decisions and do not sign off on published content. Specifically:

• AI does not verify tax, legal, or financial claims; a named human author does.
• AI does not design or validate calculator formulas; a human author checks the math against standard definitions.
• AI does not decide which topics we cover or what we recommend.
• AI does not approve advertising, affiliate, or sponsored content.

Human accountability

Every article is attributed to a named human author with relevant experience, and that author is accountable for the accuracy of the published work. AI assistance does not change that accountability. If an error reaches publication, a human author corrects it under our Content Update Policy and Fact-Checking Statement.

How we disclose AI assistance

Where AI assistance has materially contributed to a piece of content, we disclose it on or near the article. Where a piece was written and reviewed entirely by human authors without AI assistance, no AI disclosure appears. Our default is transparency: when in doubt, we disclose.

Why we use AI assistance

Used carefully, AI tools help us produce and maintain more content for a free resource library, and keep older guides updated on a reasonable schedule. Used carelessly, they produce confident-sounding errors. Our process is designed to capture the first benefit while preventing the second, with human verification at the center.
