Privacy policy and disclosures

What we collect

We collect the email address you submit to the newsletter form, and the name, email address, topic, and message you submit to the contact form. When you submit the contact form we also record the submission timestamp and limited technical information needed for security and spam prevention — such as the originating IP address and the page the form was submitted from. This technical information is stored server-side only and is never displayed publicly or sold. We do not ask for financial account details, and the calculators run entirely in your browser: the values you type are never transmitted to us or stored on a server.

How we use it

Newsletter addresses are used to send the periodic email you subscribed to, and nothing else. Contact submissions are stored in our database and forwarded by email to the site owner so your message can be answered; the owner’s email address is kept private and is not published on the site. We do not sell or rent personal information. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter email, or ask us to delete your record entirely, by writing to us through the contact form.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses cookies and similar technologies only for the limited purposes described in this policy. We do not use cookies to identify individual visitors or to sell personal information. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; see the Cookie Policy for details. Some cookies are necessary for the site to function and cannot be disabled in the system, while analytics and any future advertising cookies can be declined.

Advertising (currently inactive — prepared for future use)

At the time of this update, third-party display advertising is not running on Rental Property Lab. This section describes how advertising will work if and when it is enabled, so the policy is ready in advance. When advertising is activated, this section will become the active disclosure and the “Last updated” date will change.

• Third-party advertising: we may display ads from third-party partners, including Google. Google and its partners may use cookies and device identifiers to serve ads based on your activity on this and other websites.
• Google advertising technologies: this may include the DoubleClick cookie, the _gads cookie, and Google’s advertising SDKs where applicable, used to serve and measure ads.
• Personalized vs. non-personalized advertising: in regions where personalized advertising is permitted, Google may use your prior visits to this and other sites to serve ads based on your interests. Where personalized advertising is restricted or consent is not obtained, only non-personalized (contextual) ads will be served.
• Analytics and measurement: advertising partners may use cookies to measure ad performance, impressions, and conversions in aggregate.
• Opt-out and controls: you can opt out of personalized advertising through Google Ads Settings, opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info, and manage cookies in your browser settings.

No advertising cookies are set while advertising is inactive. When advertising is enabled, visitors in regions that require consent will be asked for consent before non-essential advertising and analytics cookies are loaded.

Consent requirements (EEA, UK, Switzerland, and similar jurisdictions)

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and other jurisdictions with consent-based privacy laws require a valid consent signal before non-essential cookies, including personalized advertising and certain analytics cookies, are set or read. Rental Property Lab honors these requirements.

• When advertising is enabled, a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) or an equivalent consent banner will be implemented to request, record, and transmit consent before non-essential cookies load.
• Visitors in consent-required regions will see a consent choice before advertising or analytics cookies are activated, and will be able to withdraw consent at any time.
• Until a compliant consent mechanism is in place, advertising and non-essential analytics cookies will not be served to visitors in consent-required regions.
• If you are in a consent-required region and believe a non-essential cookie has been set without consent, please contact us through the contact form so we can investigate.

A compliant consent platform must be deployed before Google AdSense personalized ads are activated for visitors in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and other applicable jurisdictions. This is a documented requirement, not a completed implementation, because advertising is not yet running.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand in aggregate which guides, calculators, and resources are useful. GA4 may set cookies to measure sessions, engagement, and conversions. Where consent is required by law, analytics cookies load only after consent. This data is not used to identify individual visitors or to sell personal information, and we do not share personal data with advertising partners for cross-context behavioral advertising while advertising is inactive.

Your choices

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information you have submitted. You can unsubscribe from any newsletter email using the link in every message, or ask us to delete your record entirely by writing to us through the contact form.

Your privacy rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have specific rights under privacy laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). We honor these rights for all visitors, regardless of location.

• GDPR: the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for processing.
• CCPA: the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of its sale or sharing (we do not sell personal information), and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights.
• To exercise any right, send your request through the contact form. We will verify your identity and respond within the period required by applicable law.
• If you are in the European Economic Area or the UK, our lawful basis for processing newsletter and contact submissions is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

Editorial and affiliate disclosure

Our guidance is independent. If we ever include an affiliate or sponsored link, it will be labelled clearly on the page where it appears. Advertising never influences editorial recommendations, and advertisers do not review content before publication.
